Brotherly Love - Dusty Attic Mood Board Inspiration - June 2019

 

Hi there Attic Dwellers... Today I get to share with you my Mood board Inspiration for June! I took this picture of my boys last year in winter. We were out at Coogee Bay for lunch and took a stroll along the clifftops! Absolute perfection. 

Here are some close ups of the finished product so you know what techniques to look for in the post! 

 

I started out creating a base for my page... I like the wood paneling as it recreated the jetty. 

Using my tool of choice, the brayer, I added some custom colour to the background to better reflect the colour pallet. I added some vertical and horizontal lines to break up the splotches and frame the jetty.

I created some texture with a harlequin stencil and used some light and fluffy paste. I really like this paste as it leaves a raised dimension without needing to add a lot of paste to your page and avoiding stencil bleeds... Ew! I used some water based crayon to highlight the ridges. I rubbed it onto my finger and lightly brushed it along the stenciling.  

I highlighted the edges of the wood paneling with Distress ink directly from the cube. I love this look as you often get striations in the ink. 

I was handed a bottle of this to play with... So I did! I applied a generous coat to my chipboard and left it to dry naturally overnight. I used mica sprays to colour the chipboard and I didn't prime it first as I wanted the cardboard to soak up the colour and leave the shimmer on top.

How good does that look!!

I used glossy accents for the reeds. 

I wanted some variation in the texture. 

I have been eyeing these little beauties off for a while now and finally got my chance to showcase them! 

I dabbed them into white gesso and created peaks in the acrylic. I also added a little Fluid Acrylic to colour the wings on the seagull. 

When i was in Arizona for Creativation i was taught the technique i used on the posts.

With this one you use a powdered watercolour pigment. I used a little Satin Glaze Matte for this but you can use any clear drying medium to create the effect. Sprinkle a little pigment onto the chipboard and wet your brush and swipe! Perfect woodgrain every time!!

To complete the page I added Splatters, Stones, Sisal and Beads. Thanks for stopping in to look at my latest creation.

Dusty Attic Mood Board Inspiration - January 2019

Welcome to my FIRST Mood board on the other side... 
I cant tell you how honoured I am to be able to show you my Dusty Attic chipboard play!! This post is my  Challenge Inspiration for January. We have had an incredibly long heatwave in Sydney with temperatures in the mid to high 30 degrees Celsius for over 10 Days (100 Fahrenheit). The only break we have had from the weather is at the beach!!

Right Now! for Colour Blast Australia

Hi friends, here's a new inspiration for you using Colour Blast Australia products. This photo was taken At Scenic World - Katoomba. We took all the boys on an adventure. Shortly after this it poured and we all got soaked!!

 Here are some closer looks...

 To create this layout I have a process by where I create my focal point first. For this one I found some papers and created a matt.

 I found some Fab Dusty Attic Chipboard from my new Design Team kit and added some crackle paste. While it was still wet I added Colour Artist Ink in Walnut to colour the paste, not to sit on top of it. I then added a touch of Art Alchemy wax to highlight the crackle.

 Using Colour Paste in Leather I used a stencil to create some embellishments. I deliberately over heated the paste to get a lovely texture on the moths. I also added some Colour Embossing Powder in Stormy Sky to the title. When I layed it out I decided that it was too dark and them put a layer of Sunshine on instead. The black base gave the Colour Embossing Powder a complete golden shimmer.

 Once I was comfortable with where my embellishments and focal point were going to go I marked out in pencil and removed them to work on my background. For this process I coloured some Colour Blast Heavy Gesso White with Colour Artist Ink, Barley and used my pallet knife to apply. Once I had enough I added Colour Artist Ink in Lime to the remaining mixture to vary the shade and add a another layer. Once this was dry I added some splatters with Colour Artist Ink - Walnut... Why not - It was still sitting there.

 At that point I realised I had a Grungy effect to the layout now and then added some stamping with Archival Ink to add to that feel. I stuck down the Picture and embellishments and then used my Colour Shimmer Brush Marker to add a bit of sparkle to my flowers.

Hi Soul Sisters, 

My turn to inspire you for this months challenge. I wanted to go with a more romantic take on the Mood Board.  

Before I landed in Wonderland I had to fall... In love!

I used the Alice in Candyland range from 13@rts as my base. I added stencils from Prima and Lindys sprays to highlight the texture. I used some Distress Crayons in Seedless Preserves and Black Soot to highlight the edges of the modelling paste.

I fussy cut the circles to mount my photo and started with just a few... Well, I used all of them..  

I chose some embossing powders from Lindys and selected my embellishments. From Prima, Resin hearts, Lavender collection die cuts (My Playing card was in there) and chipboard from 2Crafty, WOW and Dusty Attic.
