21st March #139 - Creative Moments Design Team

Are you ready for another challenge with Creative Moments?
I will be feeling a little jealous of you Northern Hemispherians. The scent of Spring makes me feel alive..
This challenge theme is to celebrate Spring.
What.. Its autumn here in Australia!!

I chose to do a Steampunk inspired tag for my contribution.. I stretched the interpretation to springs and cogs instead.
  • I chose to do a Tag this time to allow for enough room to play with my stencils and pastes.
  • I coloured the focal point with Distress Oxides and a water brush OMG my new favourite technique. Tested a few ways to collage...
  • Then added some colour to the background with my sprays allowing for heaps of drippage and runs to add depth to the cracks in the wall.

Dusty Attic Mood Board Challenge March 2018

March 2018 Mood Board

Hi everyone...
So "News Flash"
I didn't leave it to the last minute this time!

I thought that this was going to be out of my comfort zone and much more of a challenge than it actually was. So good to be testing my skills and stretching my creative side. I am really happy with the design.

I used a cobblestone stencil to create the wall and added some strips of lace to give it texture.

I used a black pen and a charcoal pencil to add the depth to the wall.

I added a Frank Garcia resin frame and highlighted it with Rose Gold wax from Finnabair. Added some flowers from 49th & Market plus some extras I had in my stash and coloured the background with Lindys Sprays. Some Prills...
Some sequins and the obligatory paint splatters... and were done.

Check out the links and I hope that this provides you with some inspiration. Ivy Corners  Butterflies

You said WHAT!!!

Hi all,

I just wanted to show you quickly what I did when I was creating my Scrap The Boys project for the 2018 Card makers Design team. I took the sketch from the March Challenge and created my own take on it!!

March Sketch Challenge
Scrap the Boys March Sketch Challenge

I took my older boys to my bonus sons 10th Birthday party. Well... Flip-Out wasn't quite the done thing any more and when I look up.. Guess what I saw!! Yep - Tech!!
So as mothers do... I said "Off your Devices", with the tone and the face and all. I was blessed to have had the camera in hand and these were the looks I got. I cant wait till they have kids...

I brushed on clear gesso to prime my page making sure I left lots of brush strokes in the paint. I sprinkled the embossing powder Midnight Emerald by Lindys' and achieved a textured and sparkly background to frame the boys.

I added a cog sheet and some newsprint paper to the left from the same grunge collection by Kaisercraft that I used for the card I featured on the Scrap the boys Challenge Blog for the DT project for Card Makers .

A bit of modelling paste and a chicken wire stencil that I got from TCW... A few photos and some cog and tag dies I have in my stash from Tim Holtz. I added some interest behind the photos and a collage for my focal point in the bottom right corner to correlate with the Sketch and I'm done.

I was really pleased with how it turned out... This project was going to be be page just for Mum... some I do to inspire my fellow crafters - others are personal.. I made an exception to this one so I could celebrate the March Challenge with you all.

I look forward to seeing your creation..

Happy Scrapping!!

Scrap the boys Card makers DT 2018

Hi Everyone!

I am  so excited about this post! I finally get to show you my first creation for the Scrap the Boys challenge blog for all of us Card Makers out there. This challenge was to use the sketch below created for us by Crafty Scrappers..

I bought this collection of grunge papers from Kaisercraft when my kids were t'weens... I love them and have held onto them for so long that I thought this opportunity would be a perfect way to celebrate them.
I used Dies from Seth Apter... OMG, have you seen the many possibilities in his earthy masculine range?? Well worth the look.
An old piece of fabric coloured with my Dylusion spray - Chopped Pesto, a couple of staples and the reverse piece of a scrap of paper from my journaling box and Voila-

I was so pleased when I was offered the position because my first love is the men who surround me with love and adventure every day of my life. I feel blessed contentment when I get the opportunity to present them with something I have made... because they have no expectations and appreciate everything... Ah, the boys!!

I am looking forward to seeing what you can do with the sketch too...
The only limit is your imagination!

Its time for another challenge with Creative Moments on their challenge blog.
This challenge theme is to celebrate International Women' Day.
So players... Make it all about the sisterhood!
